Chandler High School Class of 1992 Rulz!!

Or so we thought when we were actually in 1992! ;o) We celebrated our 15 year reunion last weekend and although I am glad it is over, I know that I will miss everyone so much!! I was so busy, that I didn't get many pictures, but I just had to share these pictures of our parade float! I thought we did an outstanding job, but we did not win! I guess we will have to bring it for our 20th!! Btw, Bill, Sydney, Hayley, Emyley and I made the big sign on the front!

Hayley's A First Grader!!!

Hayley graduated Kindergarten last week on May 23! She was sick with a fever on Monday and Tuesday, but felt well enough to participate in her celebration at the school on Wednesday morning! I was very relieved!! The program was very cute and featured 5 songs and was followed up with each student receiving their certificate! We then had a nice reception with cake and punch. Of course, that was perfect picture taking time for moms as well!! ;o)

Here's Hayley receiving her certificate
from her principal.

Easter Eggs

The tradition in our family has always been to color easter eggs the day before Easter. Today being that day, the girls along with dad got busy decorating! Here are the results this year: Emyley colored 1 green and 1 yellow; Hayley colored a blue one that says I love you and a blue/yellow stripe one that says rainbow; Sydney colored a blue one with polka dots and a tie dye egg that says Easter Rox!
We hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable Easter!

Happy Birthday, Hayley!

Ever since the beginning of this school year, Hayley has been counting the days until her 6th birthday so that she could have her first official birthday party. Well, we finally made it, and the party was a great success!! She invited all 11 of the girls in her class. We had a great turn out with a total of 7 girls. The girls enjoyed a great time of playing, bead crafts, dress-up, playing, games, cake, playing, presents, and oh, yeah, did I mention playing?! I think everyone had a great time!
The theme for the party was Tinkerbell, and we bought a Tinkerbell Ice Cream Cake from Baskin Robbins. Although it was delicious and beautiful, that will probably be our last Ice Cream Cake until I can learn to make it myself. It was very pricey, but it was Hayley's first party, and we wanted it to be a great one!
And, the girls dressed up like fairies (without wings) in skirts, haloes and lollipop magic wands. After dress-up, the fairies played pin the horn on the unicorn. We then had cake and presents then they were off to more playing! I think everyone had a great time. Bill printed out this picture of the girls for them to take home with their goody bag. After all was over, I went to bed and stayed there until Monday! I think it was a well-deserved break!! ;-)

Chloe's First Bath

There are many differences between cats and dogs, too many to go into here. But one main difference is that cats bathe themselves, and in fact many hate to get dirty! Now, dogs, especially, puppies, have no qualms about getting dirty, and some love it! So, with Hayley's birthday fast approaching and company on its way, Chloe was due for her first bath. She wasn't exactly too happy about it, but she cooperated as well as any puppy can be expected to.

And never one to be far away from the action, especially when it involves water, Maggie, the cat watched (taunted) Chloe's first bath!

Chloe...for now at least!

Here she is, our newest addition to our family. She is a Border Collie mix and so far her name is Chloe. We adopted her from a nearby Shelter and found out we were her 4th adoptive family!! Well, we all think she is definitely a keeper!!

For those who know me well, know that I am a cat person...Bill is the dog person. And, I do have a cat named Maggie and she turns 3 this week. Well, I'll just say she was less than impressed with our newest addition. I can just hear her thinking, "A puppy is sooooo not what I wanted for my birthday!"! ;o) Here is a picture of both of them having a standoff over the puppy food dish!!

Wow, didn't mean to be gone so long!

I guess life just has a way of taking over sometimes, and you just get caught up in it all and things like blogging take a backseat! There has been one MAJOR development in my life, and those who know me must agree, this is BIG....HUGE...OUT OF THIS WORLD!! Our family joined, okay, wait for it........Lifetime Fitness!! Yep, we did it.

Bill had been after me for awhile to please look over our budget and see if there was any possible way to afford it. I would just laugh at him and say, "yeah, right.". Well, a couple of weeks ago, our car insurance guy called to let us know that an accident on Bill's record was dropping off, so our premium would be going down. Wow, what a difference an accident makes!! Of course, being a girl, I wanted to use the extra $$ for shopping, but since Bill really wanted to do the Lifetime thing, I decided to check it out.

Now, I had joined a fitness club once before many, many years ago, before we had kids. I also worked full-time, then...what was I thinking. The main problem I had with it, was feeling like I was walking into a place for pretty people! I didn't feel like I fit in at all, so guess what happened? Yep, I didn't go and had to go through the tooth-pulling process of getting out of my contract. So, you can see my concerns with joining another fitness club.

Well, we met with a sales person (I am sure they have different names, but come on, they are selling a product) on Saturday. The whole family went and we toured the whole facility beginning with the Kid Care Center. That right there was a big plus to me cause it meant I could workout during the day and Emyley would have a place to go where she wouldn't be bored. Of course, the pool was the next big thing. They have an indoor and outdoor pool area with specific family hours. We haven't checked it out, yet, but that is first on our agenda for today! I am thinking this summer, we won't have to fiddle with putting our pool up, we'll just be able to head to Lifetime and do it up big time! ;o)

Okay, so up to the Cardio Floor where all the big machines are, and this is where the test began! They have so many machines...kind of intimidating, but Bill was right there, and it all felt normal. So, we joined, right there and then, no turning back. The most amazing thing I liked is that there is no contract to have to wriggle out of later! We can quit if/when we want...downside is having to pay the enrollment fee over again.

On Sunday, we went back and let the girls try out the "Play Place" and Bill and I headed up to have our Body Age Assessment. I have to say, my body is younger that I thought it would be, but still about 10 years older than I am, so I have lots of work to do. But, having that assessment done, gave me goals to work towards, and that is a good thing. Bill and I played basketball and sat in the hot tub after that. It was great!!

Then came Tuesday, mine and Emyley's first solo trip. I was worried about Emyley going to the "Play Place" alone, she acted like she did it all the time. "Whatever, mom!" I headed up to the Cardio Floor and instantly felt intimidated again! With no Bill there to lean on, I headed for what I thought would be the easiest machine...a bike. Well, I couldn't figure out the preset training, so I ended up setting the resistance too low. I couldn't figure out which station to program my radio to, so that I could hear what was on my tv on the bike. And my rear end turned numb after about 20 min. I lasted another 10, then wandered over to the resistance training area (weight machines), then just as quickly, I wandered back away from them!! LOL!! Yeah, too much for Stefi for one day.

I headed back to the locker room and figured I would check out the sauna. I walked in and was immediately assaulted by the steam and then the eucalyptus that is filtered through the air. I walked out, got dressed and got Emyley. We headed to Mickey D's for an Egg McMuffin and a Coke....all was right in the world again! ;o)

Normally, after an experience like that, I would not step foot in that place again. I do not like to be uncomfortable in any way. But we are paying for it, right? And I have high hopes for the summer, right? So, Em and I made the trek out there again on Thursday. This time, I truly chose an easy machine...the treadmill. Probably the most boring machine possible, but I lasted almost an hour. I walked 1 3/4 miles and I felt good.

Friday was the first day of Spring Break, but family swim hours weren't until 3pm, so we didn't' make it out there. But like I said, it is first on our agenda today.

Stay tuned for more on my fitness saga.....
