Congratulations, Sydney!

Today was Sydney's 5th Grade Graduation....kind of a mixed bag of emotions for us all. I can't believe she has grown up so much already and will be starting middle school in the fall. At the same time, I am so excited for her because I know some of what lies ahead for her! She was so beautiful today, and we are so proud of her. I hope you all enjoy the video. The longest part is the song by the Music Makers (she is in there on the 2nd row, 3rd person in), so feel free to skip ahead once that starts. Also, the girls all got their hair cut yesterday afternoon, so be sure to check out their new 'dos in our family picture at the end.

Spring Specials Spectacular 2008

The girls' school put on another fantastic program for us last night. This program highlighted what the kids have been doing in their specials classes (pe, music and art). And, boy have they been busy! After the music portion (which Sydney performed in) and pe slide show, we got to walk around the school and look at special art projects the students did this year. Hayley's grade made ice cream...it looked real enough to eat! Sydney's grade made panty hose sculptures....hers is a penguin! I have got to learn how they did that! Oh, just a side note, the flag picture at the end of the video is actually handprints from every student! It is truly impressive! We are so lucky to have such awesome and caring specials teachers!!! Thanks for a great year!

P.S. To my partners in crime (you know who you are), I hope my camera and our giggling wasn't too much of a distraction. And, the chirp and bark are now gone! LOL!!

Oh, Oh, We're Magic.....

And no, we didn't just throw it all away. Isn't it nice when things are all clean and in their place?!?

Memorial Day Cookout & Fun!

Well, it wasn't actually Memorial Day, but the day before we traveled up to visit Nana and Joel. We had an old-fashioned cookout with burgers, hot dogs, potato salad, deviled eggs, beans and chips. We got to see the house that they are building. We tried to fly kites, but the wind just wouldn't cooperate. And we got to visit a lot! It was a great day to enjoy the company of family! Here's a video for you all to enjoy!

Yes, Keep......No, Delete

So, last night was the American Idol Finale, and I figured since I let you all in on our obsession with David Cook, I at least owe you an update, so sit back, and try to keep up.......

It all began at 7:00pm and with a two hour finale, we let TiVo take over. At almost 8:00pm, we all settled in to watch and see if our fave made the cut. So, after sitting through (and fast forwarding through) many good and silly performances by previous contestants and some big stars....YAY Carrie Underwood....the time finally came for the big announcement.

Ryan Seacrest: ".......the winner of American Idol Season 7 by 12million votes is.........David"

TiVo: "Yes, Keep this Recording - No, Delete this Recording."

Steph: "WHAT?!?!?!?"
Bill: "Are you kidding me?!?!?"
Steph: "OMG....that is hilarious!! The TiVo actually stopped recording right as he said "David"!!!"
Girls: "So who won??"
Steph: "Wait, the computer TiVo (yes, I said computer TiVo....long story) was recording, too!"

Up we all race to the front room and gather around the computer.

Steph: "Aw, it already switched channels to CBS! Quick, get on the internet, but don't look at any headlines."
Bill: "This computer is way too slow!"
Steph: "I'll turn my laptop back on."

As the Internet finally begins to load on both computers, the news comes on in the living room. A clip of "You are my Brother" begins to play.

Steph: "It's coming on in the living room! Quick...."

So, we all race to the living room. Hayley is excited to see that silly man sing that brother song again. Then the clip we have all been waiting for....

Ryan Seacrest: ".......the winner of American Idol Season 7 by 12million votes is"

I pause the TiVo because I notice that Bill didn't follow us into the living room. Then....

Bill, yelling from the front room: "David Cook won!"
Steph: "Nooooooooooooo, you didn't just do that!"
Bill, walking into the living room now: "Oh, oops!"
Sydney: "It says it on the tv screen, too."

So, I push play and hear the winner finally announced by Ryan Seacrest! Oh, well, at least David Cook won and 66 of those 12 million votes that he won by was ours! YAY!

So, what have we learned:
a. The Mullens have entirely too many TiVos.
b. The Mullens watch entirely too much TV.
c. The Mullens are obsessed with American Idol!
d. All of the Above and proud of it!

I guess there are worse things in life we could be, right?!? ;o)

66.....

...times that we voted for David Cook last night to win American Idol Season 7!! How many times did we dial the phones? Who knows....hundreds it felt like! We had our two cell phones and the home phone going, dialing all 3 lines. I guess we were bored! LOL! Archuleta will probably win since he sang his little heart out last night, but we love David Cook!! So, we are still crossing our fingers that our 66 votes will push him over the top....and if not, well, we tried, right?!? ;o)

Another Maggie Moment

I must be more in tune with my cat than my children as Maggie seems to be hogging the blog this month! I told Hayley that, and she said, "Well, we (the kids) aren't doing anything to blog about!". LOL!! But, don't worry.....next week will be Syd week as she has a music program and graduation! So, here's the latest installment of "Maggie Moments":

I love Colors......

They make me Happy.......

They make me Smile in my Sleep!

Okay, I know that one was a little cheesy, but still so cute! ;o)

Hops-A-Lot

Bill found a froggie in our backyard yesterday when he went out to mow. Emyley and Hayley were beside themselves! After all, Em loves froggies! So, the three of us went across the street to let him go...and of course, we have to blog about it!

Happy Mother's Day!

Just thought I would share some Mother's Day pics of my darlings.....ENJOY and have

a great Mother's Day!

Queen of the World.....

.....or our household at least! Since Chloe is now out and about, Maggie was feeling a little left out, so I made her this furry, soft pillow and stuck it where only she could go.....the top of the kitchen cabinet! LOL!! This is the first day she actually got up there by herself. Isn't she so cute.....and maybe a little spoiled?!?!?

I Drink Your Milkshake

Em saw this skit on SNL (parts of it anyway) and she likes to say it all the time. When I saw her drinking her chocolate milk with this really long straw, it cracked me up, and I knew we had to blog it! Getting her to say the lines at my computer so I could record it was the hard part! She refused to do it in the guy's voice (like she usually does), but this is still cute anyway!

Fun, Food & a Movie!

Bill won passes for the Studio Movie Grill in Dallas a couple of weeks ago. This was our first time to visit a theater like this. We weren't really sure what to expect. We decided to see Nim's Island, and it was really a cute movie. Although, the little girl in the movie seemed like a very mature 11-yr old. Other than that, we really enjoyed it....Jodie Foster was really funny!

As for the food part of the movie, we had to pay for that ourselves. In typical movie theatre fashion, it was pretty much overpriced. But considering you could page your waitress anytime you needed anything from a drink refill, salt, extra napkins, etc, I think it all evened out in the end! So in all we would give this a thumbs up! Probably won't make a habit of going, but if free passes turned up again, we wouldn't hesitate to give it a go!

The pictures are kind of hard to see because, well, it was dark and we only had Bill's cell phone for pictures. But they did turn on the lights for about a minute (just for Bill, right) and Bill got a really good picture of us girls waiting for the movie to start.

The setup - small tables alternated with "bar" seating. The chairs were leather office type

chairs, which I loved cause I could sit up high! ;o)

Sydney perusing the menu.....what to get....ice cream, maybe?

Nope, buttery, buttery popcorn!!

What are we going to eat, girls?

This is the best picture. We sat at one of the "bar" tables. Bill had a Thai Chicken Salad,

Syd had buttery popcorn, Hayley had Chips & Queso, I had a Cheese Quesadilla, and Em

had Fruit & Chips. The food wasn't that bad, either. Syd loved the popcorn!
