Revenge of the Nerds??

No, it's just the photo shoot the girls did for Bill's father's day present this year. He wanted this picture frame from Target that looks like computer memory. I had the girls dress up in nerd wear and put a picture of them in the frame. But it was so hard picking just one picture. So, here's the montage of them all....

School's Out for Summer

The end of school was a bittersweet event for us this year. We are happy that the girls did so well in school and of course are happy for summer, but we know that it also means our time in McKinney is drawing to a close. We have enjoyed the McKinney schools and all of our friends so much, that it will truly be hard to leave such a great community! But, we did enjoy our last day of school. Em's class had a bubble and chalk party outside, while Hayley's class was a little more low key with snacks and games inside. After the parties, we headed to get Syd from school so they could take off for Grandma's house in Okla.

(I was having issues with the music in the video...I don't edit them to be so choppy.)

Brownie Rock Climbing

For a fun treat, Hayley's brownie troop decided to head to the Allen Natatorium for some rock climbing. Em and Syd decided to get in on the action, too. A couple of the girls actually made it to the top! It was a fun way to spend a couple of hours!!

Teacher Appreciation

This year we made gifts for the girls' teachers for teacher appreciation. We came up with these neat ideas from our Uppercase Living stuff!

This one was for Hayley's teacher who's first name was Summer.

This one was for Em's teacher her taught that the sound of "Ff" is FFFFfffff like a scared cat!

Hayley's Acting Debut

Minshew decided to split up the spring programs by grade this year (loved it!). Hayley's 2nd grade decided to do a play of 3 different stories. She couldn't wait to try out for a speaking role...and was so excited when she got the part of Little Red Hen! She did a great job, and we are so proud of her!! Sorry about the video...I picked the right spot to sit to have the microphone in her face almost the entire time..ugh! But you can still see our pretty little star and enjoy the great work she did!!

Life Changes and Yuck!

After a couple months of job searching, Bill finally found a job!! It is in Okla City which means a move for us this summer. Luckily, we will be able to move back to our hometown, so it isn't completely like starting over. He will be spending the weeks with my parents and coming home on the weekends.

And, to save some of my sanity of being a single mom during the week, I had to let my job go. It was a tough decision as I was really starting to get into it and the extra money was nice, but I just couldn't handle it all without Bill with me. We rely on each other so much when it comes to the girls. Plus the fact that I need to start getting the house in order to sell...so fun!

And wouldn't you know, Hayley woke up this morning (Bill's first day gone and his first day of work) with one of her earrings inside of her ear! I was too chicken to get it out myself, so we went to the doc. It was gross and I'll spare the details, but they were able to numb it before working it back out. Now we have to wait for it to heal completely before getting it pierced again. Poor girl! Let's hope that is the last of the gross stuff while Bill is not home!!!

Hayley's 8yr Rite of Passage

In sticking with tradition, Hayley got her ears pierced for her 8th birthday. We actually went to the mall a couple of days early, and she shed no tears. Here's her before and after:

2nd Grade to City Council!

During the month of March, the Second Grade Class displayed artwork depicting the historical homes of downtown McKinney. The class was also invited to be honored during the City Council meeting. I was surprised at the low turnout, but was so happy we went!

Princess Hayley

Hayley got invited to her best friend, Ben's, birthday party. The theme was to dress up in royal attire, and believe it or not, we don't have a lot of princess stuff around. Luckily, Target had this really pretty dress and a tiara. Hayley looked quite the princess for the party!

My glasses, my glasses, I can't find my glasses....

The girls found these really cool "glasses" at Claire's. I think they look really smart in them. Emyley liked pretending that hers were reading glasses and would take them off and put them on in a perfect imitation of Mrs. Durrick, her teacher!

Time for Tea

Hayley's Brownie Troop decided to have an old fashioned tea party for their February Meeting. Each girl brought a snack and a tea cup. They tasted different types of tea. Emyley helped with the serving, so she earned a special patch, too.

Christmas Eve Pictures

I decided we needed some new pictures of the girls, so on Christmas Eve they donned black dresses, had their hair done and then posed for the camera. Even Chloe had to get in on the action...hey, she's one of our girls, too!

King Tut

Bill, Hayley and Emyley headed to the Dallas Museum of Art on Sunday to catch the King Tut Exhibit. They really enjoyed the exhibit and had fun trying to figure out what certain egyptian words meant. They finally figured out that Tut-Ankh-Amun = Living image of Amun. They also enjoyed the rest of the museum which is where they took these pictures that I liked.

Olympic Culture Night

Our elementary school always holds a Culture Night that involves all of the students sharing what they have learned and created about different countries. This year the specials teachers decided to do an olympic themed event. While the kids learned their normal songs and made special artwork, they also learned olympic type games and activies in PE. Now, being that I had just started working, I totally forgot to charge my camera batteries. So, I only got little snippets of video of each girl and a couple of pictures. And, my wonderful friends the Marchal's created the really cool jeep in the video that was used for the Safari Bookfair that was taking place duirng Culture Night and all the next week. It was really cool!!! So, short as it is, enjoy the video!!

Movies with Miss Carter

Hayley won the teacher raffle at the PTA Carnival and got to enjoy a movie with her teacher (whom she loves!!!), Miss Carter! They decided to see High School Musical 3, and since I knew that Syd and Em wanted to see it, too, we all went together. Of course, we did not sit with Hayley and Miss Carter, so she still felt very special. And despite the huge cheese factor of the movie, we had a great time!
